considers as proactive person because of he actually buy an existing companies to start his airlines instead of creating a new company. He manages to seize opportunities to buy the companies with its asset included .This help Tony expand this business faster because the
infrastructures already there.
Furthermore, he also said that his timing was in fact perfect because it was after 11 September 2001 tragedies, aircraft leasing costs fell over 40%. This causes most airlines to lose money and gone bankrupt. Some surviving airlines had to lay off their staff in order to cut operating cost. This meant experienced staffs were readily available. He also believed Malaysian travellers would embrace a cutrate air service that would save them time and money, especially in a bad economy after those tragedies.
Tony Fernandes also had been consider as proactive because he successful in lobbying former Malaysian Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad in mid of 2003, to propose the idea of open skies agreements with neighbouring countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, and Singapore. As a result, these nations have granted landing rights to AirAsia.
